Final Cut Pro is a professional non-linear editing software application developed by Macromedia Inc. and then Apple Inc. Final Cut Pro 7 will only run on Mac personal computers running Mac OS X version 10.5.6 or later and using Intel processors. It is a module of the Final Cut Studio product. The software logs and captures video onto a hard drive (internal or external), where it can be edited and processed.
From the early 2000s, Final Cut Pro developed a large and expanding user base including many independent filmmakers. It has made inroads with film and television editors who have traditionally used Avid Technology'sMedia Composer. According to a 2007 SCRI study, Final Cut made up 49% of the US professional editing market, with Avid at 22%.[1] A published Survey in 2008 by the American Cinema Editors Guild placed their users at 21% FCP (and growing from previous surveys of this group), while all others are still on an Avid system of some kind.[2][3]

  • it's not working! i followed every step, but it is just stopping when I'm pressing the different angles in the viewer...

  • @jonebestava Is your footage all the same codec? If it's not from the same model camera, you need to run it through a program like Mpeg Streamclip to make sure your footage is all the same type.

  • could you plz make a beginners guide to dslr's

  • @MartianMafia Did you watch our DSLR Filmmaking episode?

  • Another quick question, after i select on make multiclip option and i click on the "open" instead of "sync off", i'm still not able to see both cameras play simultaneously. everytime i hit play i can only see the stuff shot from one of the cameras, but as soon as i pause it then i can see both cameras. I have no idea why. Can you help? oh and by the way, if i do the syncing finding the in points, do i have to do this for every little single clip? i have maybe like 100 different clips per camera

  • Have you tried using pluraleyes? that way you don't have to go through every single clip finding an in point...i haven't done it but i'm editing a wedding too so i guess we are working on the same thing and it would be helpful if you can tell me how it was easier for you. Thanks!

  • Cool ! Just lower the music.

    Try pluraleyes

  • @mia3571 you can custom set keybinds in the keyboard shortcut menu

  • Nice work, Evan!

  • This video put me where I need to be for my Video Production Team. I am gonna keep checking out your channel.

    Brian.

  • Evan, question though. You're switching angles by tapping on the desired angle as the viewer is playing. Is there a way to switch angles in the timeline other than by right clicking and selecting it from the pulldown window. Avid had a keyboard shortcut for it but I've never found one in fcp (not that i use the function that much). The nature of the projects I work on doesn't really benefit from selecting angles the way you're showing. I can always use the pulldown window, it's just not as fast.

  • How age are you?

  • pluraleyes is the BEST way to sync your multiclips. its bloody amazing!

  • I have a quick question for you. i have a multi-cam show i shot today but i've never used multi-cam. Here is the predicament i'm in. i think i need to capture all the footage, export to after effects, key it all because it's green screen, then re import it but i have another problem i need your advice for. I have three audio feeds each to a separate camera and each on a separate tape so how do i do the multicam editing and keep all three pairs of audio tracks in the timeline. i haven't begun yet
