It was June 11, 2010; one of the best days of my entire life. I've been a loyal Blackhawks fan for twelve of the nineteen years I've been around, and suffice it to say even though it came before the Cubs parade, which would be the ultimate event for me, it was still one heck of a morning.
This is Part One of Three for this series. It was long overdue; yeah, it's old news, it happened nine months ago. But the fact of the matter is, we're approaching the NHL postseason, and whether the Hawks are there or not, it's nice to reflect on one of my all-time favorite sports moments.
It was hot, it was muggy, fans were both gracious and annoying. It was a long morning for myself, my uncle, and Lauren, a seemingly lifelong friend equally, if not moreso, devoted to the Hawks as I am. But the six hour, standing-only wait was worth it.
Part One covers the anticipation and the fun happenings around our area before the Hawks came around. Enjoy!
