IBM and the City of Dubuque, Iowa are working together to make this community of 60,000 one of the first "smarter" sustainable cities in the U.S. IBM and Dubuque outlined their plans to partner in the development of new "smarter" technologies and implementation strategies to create an international model of sustainability for communities of 200,000 and under, where over 40 percent of the U.S. population resides.

Only a complete moron would give control of their home's electrical or heating network to a private company and put themselves in a position where that company, or the government can remotely shut your utilties off at will. They can say you were using your clothes dryer too much, etc. Or they can say you owe taxes and you don't get your power back until you pay. IBM should stick to what they know, selling adding machines to our enemies so they can keep track of how many people they exterminate

What a scam. Another way to take tax-payers money out of their pockets and into corporate coffers. Smarter planet as long as someone else funds it!
