i've been diagnosed as selectively mute for 9 years and it's actually showing signs of getting better! with the help of a therapist, i can now order my own food and ask for things i need in public!

Selective mutes shouldn't be pushed to talk... but they shouldn't be completely ignored, either. People need to realize that it isn't their fault that they can't talk in public.
