Phoenix - 10 weeks old
Mia - 4 weeks old
I read somewhere that this does occur in the wild.. when flock mates feed their peers to ward off predators who listen to the begging cries. when the baby is fed, the cries stop and the flock is protected!
what is most unusual about this video is that Phoenix has never met another Parrotlet since I brought him home as a hairless chick at 3 weeks old. Mia is from a different breeder... They are not siblings. Animal instincts are amazing.. he just knows what to do.. Today, they are inseparable. I hope they'd make babies one day!! :)
they are adorable!!!

Regurgitating - why it's ok!
Bonded birds show their affection for each other by feeding each other, and accomplish this by regurgitating food. This actiivity consists of bobbing the head up and down to bring up food from the crop, and depositing it into the mate's mouth. This is also the manner in which parents feed baby chicks.
