  • Brooks Benton is a great resource for, among other things, people who think Al Green is the beginning. He is not. Brooks Benton, is one of the artistic giants upon whose shoulders the great Al Green has stood upon.

For you rap fans, who cant appreciate the cultural environment of the 50's " Make me feel good Kiddio" is every bit as honest and bold as anything written today. I encourage you to isten to this BEFORE you decide to "look down" on those who preceeded todays artists.

  • In '69, my best friend and I were hitching to Florida, from the Midwest. We arrived across the border in Kentucky, and the sky opened up. It rained buckets. We waited it out in a Standard Station. On the radio this song was playing. It was an Epiphany. It wasn't Georgia, but it was close.

  • @foodserver53 I am a rap fan, and I have a HUGE appreciation for the music/culture of the 50s ...There was no need to single & target a genre just to make your point, dear ...and understand that rap derives from 1960s Jamaican music (toasting) and West African storytelling (Griots) ...Perhaps you need to have a better appreciation for other genres/cultures - or at least some respect for cultural diversity

  • @INgirl812 My apology for being soooo delinquent but I'm not familiar with the mail component of the service. But as a follow-up INgirl812, We all have trials and those of us who overcome them can often recall the internalized fear we overcame as we went through the ordeal. The bemoaning can give you a feeling of walking around in 90% humidity. Ask in these moments Am I tired? And if you say Hell Yea ask yourself "Am I too tired? And you'll admit hell No! Your Fear can be harnessed

  • very touch song

  • beautiful song

  • Thanks for sharing and posting this great music!!!!

  • An absolute classic....

  • What a voice and rendition. I can feel the raindrops on my skin and the nightlights. This song haunts me.

  • It's something about Georgia I guess because most of our families came from the south to the north. South Carolina and Georgia are the main roots of our identity. I've loved this song since a little girl growing up in the Philadelphia streets thanks for the memories.

  • My parents used to put this on and slow dance to it when they thought I was asleep! Old song -sweet memories!

  • The coolest, classiest singer of the 50's. Yes, I've heard them all, including Elvis. I'm a huge Elvis fan, espeically on ballads & gospel. But, even I must admit he can't do justice to Brook Benton's songs.
