Giving kickbacks to customers for doing business with a professional I consider this unethical practice. Especially when promotional advertisement like this video is in place.
I know that some US states real estate commissioners are permitting kickbacks if a form of home buyer's closing costs and or donations. The bottom line is a kickback is unethical.
Hope one day those state legislators are becoming smarter and ethical. We have long ways to go, first the lobbyist culture must be stopped.
Rebates directly from the Realtor to the client are not illegal. Redfin goes for quantity and segmentation of the real estate transaction - Think assembly line. Showing Agents, Negotiators, Offer Writers, Transaction Managers, Marketing, etc.
Unfortunatly, you can't see homes under $175,000, or visit short sales. Not being able to see short sales is a big disadvantage to using redfin and why we chose not to use them. However, their website is FANTASTIC for information on homes, and for ease of use.
I thought that passing monies from the seller to the buyer without disclosing on the Final HUD was illegal unless it was disclosed, especially to the lender. I also notice that Redfin dispensed tax advice in their message, another no-no. Final thought, if I was such a great agent, why would I go to work for a company that would pay me so much less per transaction?
Who would trust Redfin that uses others videos and does their own voice -over???
