....since the Lease/Essential users scheme started in 1985, accidents under blue light conditions are veyr rare for LFB Officer's... less than 5 per year on average for 400 Senior Officers. Although lots of us fit additional, I have flashing headlights and grille/rear shelf mounted blues as well.

    4. The BMW 520d is very fuel efficient, my 520d Auto gives me around 670 miles per tank, better than most smaller/cheaper 2.0l Diesels.

    6. Light is a Redtronic 360 megaflash, as stated. ;-)

  • @chuckfireswift Cheers for clearing it up, should shut the loudmouths up who do nothing but moan

  • @chuckfireswift oh thanks for clearing that up i feel like i should be calling you sir, good news for me ive got an interview for a SM of traing centre so hopefully i catching you up. i've been told that if i get the job as SM of trainig centre i will get a land rover (Partly mine partly the services like you explained) as i might still keep the role as an operational officer. the land rover looks exactly the sames as this picture but with out the ambulance officer link in next reply

  • @dougdolly Hi, No that Guy is what you would know as an Area Manager. So, above GM we have Dep Asst Commissioner, Asst Commissioner, Dep Commissioner & Commissioner instad of AM, ACO, DCO & CFO. THis changes in 2000 to bring us in line with Met Police Ranks. I am a GM by the way.

  • @chuckfireswift hi mat completly agree with all your comments, im a watch commander in hwfrs do they call the CFO's (Cheif fire officers) commissioners in lfb as i think the same rank for us is Assistant CFO and it sounds like your a officer in LFB (im making it sound like im an officer as well im only a WC) what rank are you ect i know you commented a while ago but please get back to me. just to let you know this is my sons account>

  • To the person who said this is "an accident waiting to happen". The accident already happened, that's why he's got his light/siren on!

  • @04wheelerd Not really, it's still better lighting than a lot of marked emergency vehicles on mainland Europe.

  • i want one of those lights

    2. That Officer ( I know him and the car) is a Deputy Assistant Commissioner, one of the top ranks in LFB, so not so far fetched having a 5 BMW after all? Similar to a Senior Manager in any organisation.

    3. The equipment fitted is hardly an accident waiting to happen. This fulfils the minimum criteria laid down (Road vehicle lighting regs 1989, road vehicle construction and use regs etc...etc...) LFB have provided no more than a siren and single blue light.... Cont'd
