UC Berkeley has taken global warming and environmental protection seriously, establishing many new energy-related research centers, including the new Energy Biosciences Institute, which will focus on better technologies for producing biofuels — fuels made from plants. The campus has also set new requirements for campus conservation, and students are directly involved in the process. (7:00 min.) Contact: Roxanne Makasdjian, UCB Media Relations

Ironic that BP is there trying to "save the earth". 2 years later they destroy the oceans.

Plants to capture sunlight is inefficient. By the time you add in the energy to distill ethanol, fertilize the fields, transport grain, etc, it isn't worth the energy expended. Only if you use waste biomass does it make sense. Eating vegetables is a good idea, however.
