  • @Ninjamanguy732 clinch, knees and elbow. But some tournaments will not allow use of those weapons.

Please dont' compare american kickboxing to the ancient arts of muay thai.

A muay thai will always win a boxer of equal skills just because of the deadly leg kicks.

3:34 is an example of just how destructive muay thai kicks are.

I practice vovinam, boxing, muay thai (non ring style) and shotokan karate. I know how muay thai kicks overwhelms karate and vovinam's kicks.

  • @Ninjamanguy732 You're forgetting about Muay thai's deadly Knees and Elbows, the art of the 8 limbs. If this Muay thai flighter had clenched him and thrown a few Knees the fight would have been over much sooner.

  • @Ninjamanguy732 very true

  • Kicking is too slow unless ur bruce lee

  • @Ninjamanguy732

Yodsanklai would like a word with you.

  • I train in muay thai but i really am just a boxer that uses leg kicks. Boxing is more effective with hands than muay thai but learning how to leg kick is so useful and really comes in handy. The boxer might not have lost if he knew how to deal with kicks and legs. I recommend just learning boxing and proper leg kicks cuz most of the time you wont really be kicking to the head or body that much anyway.

  • Someone who can punch and kick will always beat someone who can only punch.

Well most of the time anyway

  • @ubersum1 how about if i learn boxing and muay thai together?

  • @Krisznyo why not just go no legs no hands just head butt each other

  • @ubersum1 true true but a lot of boxing slips work in muay thai (take the leg kick counter to a cross punch) pretty sweet. Boxing in general helps with hand speed, which is needed, even in muay thai. I just think it would help. and from a self defense aspect i think boxing is a valuable counter part to muay thai because those leg kicks can be thrown even while wearing jeans and punches (or palm if you're unsure of busting your knucks) and teeps are handy in jeans too, just not those high kicks
