I can agree with this to a certain point. Zig was a salesperson, I suspect that had a lot of influence on this quote. A salesperson (a lot of times) needs to build a nice network, get word of mouth going, etc.

One way to do that is to start by helping others. Those people in turn will help get you & pass the word along. Before you know it (especially nowadays with Facebook & YouTube & what not) you have a huge network of people to rely on. Very nice foundation for success IMO.
