SM Mall of Asia, Philippines
against Ashley of Team Guam
My first BJJ Competition, with only 1 week of training (about 1-2hours/day). I didn't win, but it still felt like I'm a winner.
"It's better to do your best, when you know what to do!" This is so true in this competition. While I was on the mat with Ashley, hearing our boys shout instructions to me, like PASS THE GUARD, KNEE UP, etc. the only thing I could think of was: "WTF are u guys talking about?" I didn't know any BJJ moves yet that time. And thanks to my friend AKIRA for shouting instructions to me that I can understand (grab the arm, face her, etc.)
Well I'm going into my 4th month of training in BJJ now, and watching this video never fails to make me laugh.
I'd always remember this is how I looked and felt, "stupid and funny BUT gutsy and happy" on my first competition :-)
Good match, you hung in.
