Seeing this I really dislike the people that say docs are overpaid for what they do, at least in the US. Hell I'm only at the premed stage and the money and effort we exert to even have a shot at getting IN to school is astronomical.
Great vid, and you're right. From experience there just isn't any other doc in it for the patients than pedi docs are....

great video, as a practicing pediatrician in a small practice I can identify with everything you have mentioned. I recently realized that it costs me between 35 and 40 thousand/yr for my current job, which has no benefits and where I have to pay my own malpractice.

America needs more doctors who know what medicine should really be about :)

When I go to my childhood doctors if it is during a time that I have no insurance they give me all the medicine I need before I leave the doctors office.
Doctors really do see you as an extension of their family.
When I'm out of state my parents get continual questions about me when they visit the doctors.
I agree with you; this video is extremely accurate.

Not disputing your figures. All I am saying is the pediatricians I have known don't exactly live in homeless shelters, and in fact live pretty well, though perhaps not as well as other doctors. It appears, though, based on your vid, that we run the risk of not having enough pediatricians in a few years. Even if someone likes children, they are not going to spend the kind of money you speak of, to live like paupers in return.
I just applied for pediatric residency. This video is very accurate. Pediatricians don't make money. I knew this but I just LOVE children and I just want to spend the rest of my life taking care of them and interacting with them on a daily basis. Look at the face of a child who is in need of help and look at a stash of money, which would you choose? The rewarding feeling you'll get when that child feels better is nothing less than sheer bliss. Money can never provide you with such a feeling.
