@Warren111able I would hope ANY bluray is encoded using at least DD your amp will only decode the 2 channel info (also on the disc) and matrix it into sudo-surround. (My whiskers are far greyer/older than yours lol) gl. Go to a store demo-ing dolby digital to hear the difference but stay away from 'Bose' (another story)

@Warren111able You still are not getting it. 'Dolby' does not mean 'Dolby DIGITAL'! Dolby is a company who produce various electronics under the brand name. I have an old stereo amp (and a tape deck) that has a 'dolby' noise reduction chip in it, Pro-logic is an old format for decoding 4 matrixed channels from an encoded stereo sound track, Pro-logic II added another channel. Dolby DIGITAL has 6 separate channels.

@MrSiaynoq yeh,there is a dolby chip in the darn thing.I use 'standard' on my sony to allow the encode on the dvd to be used anyway.Pro-logic is dolby driven anyway,,which waz my point really,,confusing!..

Makes a BIG difference in my home! From full surround movies to 7 channel stereo music. And it's not that much more work running an extra 2 pair + set-up ;)

Spend (AT LEAST) as much on your sound (if not more!)

@Warren111able Mate if you've been 'mis-sold' it's because you don't listen! @2:10 on he tells you surround sound will be stated as DOLBY DIGITAL/AC3 or DTS.

No prologig/neo is not true surround sound but 'synthesised' from a stereo soundtrack.

So:

6 speakers (5.1) driven by a Pro-Logic/Neo decoder is NOT surround sound

6 speakers (5.1) driven by Dolby Digital/DTS IS surround sound

The same goes for a 7.1 (or more) set up.

so what you are saying is that a tuner with only pro logic 11 and neo 6 is not true surround????,have I just been misled by sony you are the manufacturers of my 5.1 home theatre system.?,,Thus,anything under 7.1 is not true surround???,,very confusing.!!
