Actually, Lucas created Star Wars with Gary Kurtz. It was their project together. Kurtz helped keep Lucas in check. So did Irvin Kershner and plenty of others. Kurtz bailed after Empire Strikes Back, and it started going downhill from there. By the time Lucas got around to doing the prequels, he surrounded himself with people who would agree with everything he said, thus eliminating the collaborative process. Lucas then destroyed Star Wars with groupthink and intimidation.

you're pointing out weak dialogue from the OT yet the PT uses a lot of re-hashed lines from the OT; "This is where the fun begins," "Nooooooo,"etc...let alone the PT's own dialogue from a little kid to a teenager he doesn't even know, "Are you an angel?" Ewoks may have been kid friendly but the separatist droids just seem cartoonish and non-menacing with the way they react like Mo or Larry and very similar in character design to the gungans.

Disney's done pretty well with the Marvel movies they've been putting out. I have high hopes for the future of Star Wars.

Really, I don't think the Prequels would have been accepted by Original fans no matter what happened in them. As someone who grew up with both, I didn't see them as bad. I mean, yeah, now that I'm older, I can see the flaws, but the Originals have flaws, too (stellar dialogue like "I don't know where you get your delusions, laser-brain" and the ever-so-kid-friendly Ewoks). I love Star Wars and will continue to love Star Wars despite some minor bugs on the windshield.
