Red Dwarf Series VIII Cliffhanger Aftermath/Explanation

My theory on what happened in the events after the episode Only the Good leading up to Back to Earth Part 1. In this version Rimmer outruns death and the other dwarfers build a new machine in the mirror universe allowing Rimmer to pass through and memorise the formula, Kryten is able to create an antidote and Rimmer is attacked again by the vending machine this time supposedly killing him successfully explaining why he is a hologram again in series 9.

This was done by re-editing the deleted alternate ending to the episode with the final ending.

With the promise of the cliffhanger ending being resolved in Series 10 I hope something like this will be shown in flashback form, however it is much more likely that it would just be explained in the form of one of the characters talking about it.

This is a really good answer and Ive thought about this for many years but fingers crossed we shall find out soon. As we have all come to accept its probaby going to be a bit of a scetchy answer as inconsistancies are found through out all red dwarf episodes. Dribbling for the new series!!!
