Are the deer more curious about the cat, or vice versa?
Wild deer are very curious about domestic animals. They watch them carefully and seem to wonder why they associate so closely with people. Here two fawns inspect a cat. This particular cat is normally quite self confident, but she seemed a little worried with so many deer hovering over her.
The video also shows the fawns watching a crippled deer. The crippled deer was a big buck that had been in the area for a long time. He is also shown in the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gg8I_2sbXg
In the same video is a female deer that is also quite interested in the same cat. In fact, she almost walked right up to me in order to view the cat better.
A good view of the mother whitetail leaping over a fence is at the end of the video.
This was videotaped at night using Infra-Red and then lightened by computer.
