Hardly surprising. Mattel allowed some cheap animation studio to do He-Man with the sole purpose of selling more action toys to kids. Heck, George Lucas really is a master of this craft. Check out his abysmal Star Wars prequels and realize he only did them to be able to sell tons of action figures to a new generation of kids.
There were Pac-Man, Mario and Sonic cartoons back in the day too.
