Each member of the Osmonds are talented and have their own special and unique vocals. I love each and every one of them!

I don't believe that ANY of the Osmonds were talentless, including young Jimmy, and am wondering why some of the Osmonds' fans thought he was a spoiled brat? I am not offended, just interested because I didn't see Jimmy like that, even way back then. In fact, it is Jimmy that got his brothers to Branson and was the main organizer for their 50th Anniversary show. He has a beautiful voice too, Thank god for Jimmy or we may not have seen more of the Osmonds in more recent years!

The Osmond's from the beginning were "all for one and one for all" and they all supported each other in whatever they were doing. They were not in decline in 1972, that was their biggest run on gold records. They actually started in 1958, went to Andy Williams from 62-69 and D&M show started in 1976. Jimmy was practically born on TV, won the first gold record in Japan. All is well that ends well, most are still singing, touring, recording, loving each other, their harmony will live forever!

It didn't matter who the leader was as long it was a Osmond

@chrisoco I meant no disrespect. I am STILL an Osmond fan, but I just meant their records didn't sell as well after that, especially in England. Even Donny admitted that that's what happened on his and Marie's talk show when he was interviewed about his book and how Debbie got such hate mail, etc. Me, if you were a real fan you'd loved them no matter what and loved them for their music which was sure not going to change whether anyone got married or not.

I find it odd that you say that because in 1979 they commanded a record crowd at the Ohio State Fair. The filmed a TV special at the evening show (they did two shows - 2pm and 8pm). Backstage, fans were lined up to get Debbie's (Donnie's wife) autograph as much as they were to see the guys. Fans stood in line for 12 hours to get into the grandstand. That doesn't sound like decline to me.

just as long as you remember Elvis had them first , in fact it was his idea cause he didnt want to wear a tuxedo for las vegas.he in fact told the osmonds about bill.

yes, their fame did decline, and sadly, some of it was due to the fact that Donny got married in 1978. their real fans have stuck with them, however.
well if he's put out in the main spotlight and he's singing the main vocals and he stands in front of the rest of the group..i'm thinking thats the lead singer lol...yes, merrill was put out there as the lead singer and he was on alot of songs...i guess i remember donny as the lead singer becuz he got so much of the attention on him

OK, I think I see what you mean. Donny was never the lead singer of The Osmonds. He was keyboards/vocals and had a solo career aslo. Merrill was bass/lead. What we are seeing here is Donny and Jimmy performing their solo songs during an Osmond show so the brothers are backing them, as they did often in that situation.

maybe in later yrs Jimmy was the organizer of events and 4 that yes i'm grateful..but i was referring 2 when he was a child and joined the group..sorry, i grew up with Donny and his leading the group..i know they were looking 4 an angle 2 stay at the top as at the time Jimmy was brought in the band's fame was on the decline..but Jimmy was not the rite choice..the natural choice maybe since he was a younger sibling..but the band's fame still declined..and even faster with him as the frontman

Sorry to disagree but Donny didn't 'lead' the group. He wasn't even the lead singer. The record company put him out on his own but when he was in this situation he was 1/5th of it, not IT. I'm a HUGE Osmond fan but still get annoyed when even other fans don't see beyond Donny. Donny joined the group, he didn't make it.

As for Jimmy, back then I didn't really bother much about him. He was their little brother, thats all I needed to know. He didn't bother me one way or the other. But this concert was in 1972 and it wasn't the first or last time Jimmy joined them on stage. I don't think it can be said that in 1972 the Osmonds fame was in decline. But he was never a part of the group. The group consisted of the 5 older brothers. Jimmy was given a spot in their shows, as was Marie.
