A little clip on the sewing of a hand sewn shoe. Also a little fun on the side. Very hard on the arms and hands. We were paid piece work that is the more shoes you finished in an 8 hour day the more you made. Some styles are harder to sew than others.

  • when you close the two pieces together at the end, is that metal tool hot on the tip???

  • @323HIPHOP

No the awl is not hot. They just make a certain knot at the end to finish it off. Later on before they take the shoe to final process the burn the ends of the thread so it won't unravel. I hope this helps..

  • It all in the way the leather is set up on the form. If it set up right everything just comes together rather well. Hope this helps?

  • What vise uses a shoemaker? Where to Buy Them?

  • @uglyducklyugly I don't know where you could buy one? Maybe LL Bean or something like that. They might carry them.

  • Is this the Cole-Haan factory? I have an expensive pair of Cole-Haans. Those look identical.

  • @efzt Yes way back then we did make shoe for Cole-Haans..

  • Productivity is a result of Efficiency, and not energy efficiency like some are talking right now, but COMPLETE Efficiency...if you don't know the Baselines of your business how can you improve it?... if your Equipment isn't kept and operated properly how can you depend on it?...if your organization has no effective worker’s communication & training how can you get people to do the right things?...get it? Process, Equipment, Personnel, the core elements... get the Industrial Efficiency Triangle.

  • how does he stitch the shoes, and the leather where the stitching is doesnt wrinkle weird and uneven?
