No the awl is not hot. They just make a certain knot at the end to finish it off. Later on before they take the shoe to final process the burn the ends of the thread so it won't unravel. I hope this helps..

It all in the way the leather is set up on the form. If it set up right everything just comes together rather well. Hope this helps?

Is this the Cole-Haan factory? I have an expensive pair of Cole-Haans. Those look identical.
