I have always hated pipe organs until now. Finally, someone that can make it sound to my liking.

Absolutely!

Oh okay. I've never heard of Helms' Organs. I'll do some research. ;-)

So what's wrong with a Wicks organ? Some of their recent instruments are quite fine.

Well, they charge about 3 times too mutch for their work, which is ok but deffinitely not the best. Their good organs but not at their prices. Their consoles tend to be problematic too.

We bought a 20 rank Wicks in 1998 for $11,000, had it rebuilt by Wicks (including the console) and added 11 ranks of mixed parentage some of which we already had. The total cost from Wicks was $124,000. It was installed in 1999. I call that a damned good price for 30 ranks (we discarded a Dolcan from the original spec). Adding in the organ's cost, dismantling and moving it (got a great price from Organ Clearing House), and carpentry we still came in at $150,000. See it at Wicks site. op. 3850.

That's great but as an organ tech the ones I've worked on have had some real problems with them. I'm talking from personal experience. If your happy with yours then cudos to Wicks! :D
