computer startup problem screen goes black

black screen appears right after startup and the computer freezes. The system recovery button does not respond at all. Only button that works is F1, which trows me into setup where I have no clue what to do.

system is a:
HP Pavillion, with a 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ running on a Windows XP home edition, which were already installed on the computer when I bought it, so I do not have an XP installation cd.

The message that appears just before the screen goes black says: "Realtek RTL8139(X)/8130/810X Boot Agent Press Shift-F10 to configure ........."

just restart Windows ...insert windows CD ... at start up screen press F12...select boot from CD..follow instructions!!! -it is not hard at all..good luck

if that says viewsonic, forget about it, your best bet is to destroy it adn never buy Viewsonic again. They use really REALLY cheap sht parts in thier moniters that die after 6 months to a year of use. Most of them a fckin faulty.

Idk what to do my computer screen goes blank and my computer still works just my screen goes blank do you recon it's the graphics card it only does it when i'm playing a video game like minecraft

Ii have had that problem too.I had it from having a extternal HDD in my desktop and takeing it out after wards..Idk if thats wat happened to you. but wat you do is when you turn your desktop on press ESC= Boot Menu and choose your HDD to boot from.That should make your computer boot into your Windows.Its always worked for me everytime
