This video demonstrates Johnny Lee's technique for turning your display into a virtual 3D window. We hooked up a laptop to the television with an HDMI cable and used the laptop's bluetooth connectivity to communicate with the Wii Remote. We were then able to use the Wii Sensor Bar as an Infra-red tracking mechanism to relate our position relative to the television and render the imagery accordingly. The results were quite impressive. Note that the laptop is what actually runs the VR software. The Wii Remote and Sensor Bar are simply used to relay positional information back to the laptop. We are compiling instructions for you to do this yourself at http://unews.me/wii-sensor-bar-vr

Thanks to Johnny Lee (http://johnnylee.net) for developing this wonderful application, and we're looking forward to seeing this sort of technology evolve in the future!

  • how do you make the 3d window because i have the headtracking thing but i dont know how to make or get the 3d image like just the grid and targets

  • @LeTicSnow I can't remember the exact key used, but there are several buttons for turning on / off layers in the program itself. There should be a readme file or something along those lines which lists all the buttons for turning on / off the targets, grid lines, and a wallpaper background (window). Hope this helps!

  • actually the kinnect and the ps move can do that easily...

dunno why there arent any implications right now...

  • @gp2xwizinfo no i mean like how what programe do u use to get the 3d image up on the screen because im not using the wii remote im using face api headtracking i just dont know what to do to make the virtual image

  • awesome

  • explanation why they haven't put 3D virtual home entertaiment games or systmes is cause they are saving them for next generation, either by updating the current consoles or by adding a new software for it

  • cause Nintendo doesn't allow it. you are allowed to put a wii mote on ur head but not the sensor bar.

though some glasses or a hat with some leds would work just as well

  • Why haven´t anyone done games like this yet? :O

  • its is fucking sweet
