This is an interview with Andreas Chinnery's father Robert Chinnery. In regards to the suspicious circumstances when Hamilton police officers shot and killed his unarmed son. And about the rally/benefit concert on April 30th

I'm very sorry to fill you in but there was NO DAMAGE from the bat anywhere near the cops...they fired from 4 feet outside the apt if that is not a cowardly act I don't know

Whats Classified as unarmed??? Cause its to my understanding that he had a baseball bat and was swinging at the police saying he was going to kill them.....

And did he not get in trouble 2 weeks prior for assaulting an officer???...

Even if that was the case.. Say he was swinging a baseball bat. That gives these police officers cart blanch to kill him? Let me see, pepper spray, tazer, baton, hand to hand combat training. Na forget those Im going straight for my gun....

And that is trusting the word of the officers involved and the SIU. Which I do not think there is many people out there that would or do.

Think of it this way... If your son was the cop would you want him to take that chance of going in and getting his head bashed in.... I don't think so... If it was your son that shot the guy i think you'd support him to the fullest.... The way police look at it is if their life is in danger do anything to prevent harm coming to them... people bash the cops but when it comes to people needed help who do they call???

Hey I agree police do need to protect themselves.. They have one hell of a job and where would we be without them. But at the same time they know what they are getting into when they put that uniform on.

If they are unable to subdue a 19 year old KID with a baseball bat (without shooting him) They are in the wrong profession. Also there is other alternatives for the police.

(continued) They did not have to rush in. I remember when I was a kid, watching police stand offs on tv.. Did the police barge in? No they tried every other alternative before doing this. I am curious to find out what alternatives these officers tried before rushing in....

Mr. Caviness. First my sincere condolences to you and your family. Do you know 100% that your son grabbed a baseball bat and swung at the HPS?  ARe you suing the HPS? Yes or No?

@dickNjess if my child were a cop i would want him to do his job which is to serve and protect the people. IF that motto has changed then it should be removed from their vehicles. i rarely see the serving and the protecting but many times i have witnessed the abuse. my son was murdered in his vehicle, seems the police are to busy battering innocent people rather then ensuring our children are not murdered in their cars.

@dickNjess i don't see police bashing but i Do see people bashing and no it is not random, people are profiled and certain profiles are considered not worthy of life it seems. i am reminded of a movie titled 'the great debaters' . it was set in texas during the 30's when people thought it was ok to lynch people of color. in the movie the little boy sez...."it doesn't matter how good we are, does it?" the answer was yes, it does not matter.

All police dont carry tazers... only Sgt do and since there was no Sgt there no tazer could have been used........ If your son was a cop i bet you would also want him to do whatever he can to make sure he is safe and comes home to you and his family every night....... Believe me they know they are heading into a dangerous job....

@dickNjess if My son was a cop i would want him to do the things he swore to do. i would want him to Remember it is the people he is hired to protect. i would be ashamed if my son did the things so many of these police are doing. it is stupid for a policeperson to Think his/her job is not a dangerous one. he/her should Know that Before he goes to the academy. FAR to many police are bashing people. how many people have bashed cops?

IF it was true the boy swing a bat with threats to kill the police are armend with tazers. instead it seems they are using their tazers for people who smart off and guns to kill the very citizens they have sworn to protect. do you not see something wrong with this behavior? police brutality has become a serious problem in a land that is supposed to be free. i pray you come to see this and quit condoning killings by our public servants.
