Darren's wonder goal lifts Bluebirds into second spot
Haverfordwest County moved in to second spot after gaining a hard-fought victory over Cwmbran Celtic at the Conygar Bridge Meadow Stadium.
The visitors led 1-0 at half time after Ritchie Lewis scored with a clinical finish, but the visitors equalised in the 72nd minute when Owen Llewellyn scored with a simple tap-in. But in the 76th minute the Bluebirds regained the lead with a superb goal scored by Darren Griffiths.
Phil Cattlin was unavailable but Dale Griffiths and Gareth Elliott formed a solid partnership in the heart of defence and goalkeeper Peter Blain looked assured in goal.
Ritchie Lewis in action and scored in the 10th minute to give the Bluebirds the lead.Clinical finish
The Bluebirds took the lead in the tenth minute with a well-orchestrated move that was finished with a clinical finish. Striker Darren Griffiths shielded the ball before laying off a neat, inviting ball to Ritchie Lewis, the wide-sided midfielder took one touch before firing home with a sweet left foot shot that flew in the far corner. Minutes earlier and Ricky Watts drilled a low drive just wide of the target.
The only scare the Bluebirds had in the first period was when Peter Blain pulled of a brilliant save to deny Dominic Broad an equaliser in the 23rd minute.
Tight second half
At the start of the second half Nicky Woodrow guided a header from a Dale Griffiths free kick in the box straight in to the arms of keeper Church.
A lapse in concentration by left back David Evans, who lost possession, allowed the visitors to equalise when Owen Llewellyn scored with a toe-poke.
But five minutes later deadly striker Darren Griffiths scored the goal of the season on the Conygar Bridge Meadow Stadium. The striker received a neat ball from Woodrow, with still a lot to do -- but Griffiths showed good composure to bide his time and rifle a left foot shot off the underside of the bar from a tight angle to delight the home crowd.
