Multiple Sclerosis Hand Prototype 1.0 - A Figment of My Imagination

MS Hand Prototype 1.0
Illustrating the pain / impact of lesion and scarring located in cervical sections of the spine, on my right hand. Didn't have my MRI notes when i made the video - just found them, got the location wrong. Lesions at C1 and C3/4 level.

Had the desire to illustrate what Multiple Sclerosis felt like 10 years ago when it first hit me during my pregnancy in 2001, because no matter how technically detailed i was in trying to explain the pain to doctors (feels like my joints are rotated 90 degrees / twisting when i try to close my hand etc - exactly how it's shown in this video) - they couldn't understand, believe or "see" it. They were a tad too quick at assuming it was some kind of stress-related mental-health problem, because they found no lesions in the initial MRI of my brain, which missed picking up the lesions located at the tip of my spine. I had to check myself out of the hospital, because the inference and invalidation from staff that the acute pain I was experiencing was a figment of my imagination - was too toxic for my "mental health".

When my 10yo son saw me working on this piece, he was able to understand the concept of "What is Multiple Sclerosis?" straight away, even more from the perspective of the central nervous system functioning a bit like a short/crosswire in an electrical circuit, causing signals sent to parts of the body to become skewed, corrupted or broken.

MRI scans didn't illustrate how it affected the experience in my body, they only showed where the lesion[s] was located. Looking forward to extending the 3D modeling to show how MS affected the rest of my body, so it can clearly illustrate what it 'feels'[felt] like.
