Often considered the Portuguese version of Versailles, The Royal Palace of Queluz was built in the 18th century as a summer residence for the royal family, similar to the other main summer palace in Sintra but designed in the more elaborate Baroque and Rococo styles. You can stroll through the palace on your own and simply admire the original furnishings and art works on display. The palace Formal gardens in the French style add another pleasant dimension to the visit.
