  • Can anybody tell me why the religious feel it's credible, to claim that, because we can't fully explain something with the knowledge we have accumulated so far, it is therefore perfectly safe, to assume that this proves the existence of a God? Or is this the only argument they have?

  • I like Hitchins' argument that religion is superfluous to humanity. In a sense, the belief in a diety is simply attributing a consciousness to nature. Religion is a practice of taking faith in a human prophet that supposedly knows a bit of that diety's intentions. Using that as a basis for authority and justification for actions is, in my humble opinion, just immoral.

  • @johnycannuk How do you come to that conclusion? My proof is that everything we have and are is here! For you the evidence is so big you just can't see it! Now... if you have an alternate explanation (aside from saying, oh, science can explain it) then show me! I believe in God; a personal mind that created a designed universe... you believe, once there was nothing and then POOF there was everything! Who is the more logical one? And what am I lying about?

  • @BloodOfRayne Then by your very post, YOU cannot know either and your assertion is groundless and false. As I am not making a positive claim, it is up to YOU to provide evidence that the assertion is true not me to provide evidence it is not.

    Quid Pro Quo.

No stop lying and making things up and perhaps take a course on logic. You have none.

  • @johnycannuk Well isn't it the case that you atheists' don't believe anything unless you can see hear smell or touch it? Here is a task since I'm such a bald faced lier... why don't you find evidence that this is fact not true?! But here's your problem... any atheist that kills themselves is not gonna advertise it are they? In other words, no-one will know about it cos they're probably alone in a room in the dark with a gun most of the time! Who's gonna know?! You sayin' it don't?

  • @BloodOfRayne And you still have not provided evidence that your assertion that atheists commit suicide at rates greater than other groups or the general population. In other words, you are making an assertion of fact without backing up that assertion with evidence. Therefore, the assertion is dubious at best and more likely a bald faced lie and not to be believed.

Again, until you provide evidence of your assertion, you are full of sh*t and making things up. Not the first time

  • @johnycannuk Muslims kill themselves in the name of whatever... I have no idea why you're trying to connect them to Christians when as you know youself that Christians do not do this... but nice pathetic try; it's an old tired trick that even most atheists don't use anymore; nice to see you're old school. ;)

Evidence that atheists kill themselves more than anyone else! You don't believe that?! Think about it... they believe what YOU believe... get it?!

  • @BloodOfRayne Gosh, sorry it took 5 months to get to this.

! There is no "fact" that "God" gave us anything. Provide evidence for the existence of this entity, then evidence it gave us anything.

    2. Provide evidence atheists commit suicide in numbers greater than the general population. Otherwise u r making sh*t up

The point of my previous post is that there may not be an ultimate point. You just are. The universe doesn't care (cuz it can't).

Why does there need to be a point?

  • @BloodOfRayne Why do so many muslims commit suicide? They believe in an afterlife, and that their god will reward them for killing themselves and others. Moreover, they have every amount of "evidence" to back them up, as your average Christian: an ancient text that makes completely ridiculous claims. Sheesh, is it not enough to acknowledge that a garden is beautiful, without having to believe it was the work of magical, invisible fairies?

  • White would make a good Athiest. A good philosophy based Athiest like Hitchens, this is why I think there was more of a robust debate. If only White didn't fall into the typical non-sense of the Theist position then all would be good. This could be the future.

  • @johnycannuk well, it makes him more listenable than many apologists. I also enjoyed how Hitchens was able to thrust and parry with him.
