I love this anime and I think the opening is fantastic... Some parts are in italian... But even if I'm italian, I couldn't understand what they say... I had to search for the lyrics! Japanese singers have an "interesting" pronunciation =P

It's an anime adaptation of 07th Expansion's visual novel Umineko no Naku Koro ni. 07th also made Higurashi. The premise is much the same as Higurashi. Trapped in a remote area, a cast of characters must constantly repeat the same few days, each time ending with most of them murdered.
The difference from Higurashi being that Umineko builds on Western myths and cliches as opposed to japanese ones. It's quite a lot better than Higurashi.
But the anime sucks, play the game.
