only to trigger the camera wirelessly nikon has a nice little trick...
simply buy a IR remote for 3 bucks and tada!!!

Hot shoe connector is for convenience do it does not dangle. You don't have it use it.

Hi, It is cool video. Could you clarify if hot shoe connection is necessary? What if I have external flash connected there will I be able to use the wireless remote?
