The King Street tent is jammed to capacity on a rainy Saturday night at the 9th annual Kitchener Blues Festival as legendary neo-vaudville crooner Leon Redbone treats the audience to a gravelly rendition of Harvest Moon, accompanied by Paul Asaro at the piano.

  • Leon you're cool dude!

  • This song is 103 years old this year. Truly a classic of Americana, and no one does it better than Leon Redbone!

  • I agree allow some sort of respect for the artist and their space ,at least enough that you don't hear the jerkoffs in the background

  • wow.... love this tune... :)

  • I've been a fan since his first album. Waiting for a new one to come out.

  • Catching Leon tonight in Plymouth NH. Less than four hours til showtime, and I can hardly wait. Hope he plays this one. Thanks for the post, PhilipBast.

  • First of all, I would tell the audience to shut the fuck up!

  • Lyrics to the first verse:

The night was mighty dark so you could hardly see,

For the moon refused to shine.

Couple sitting underneath a willow tree,

    For love they did pine.

Little maid was kinda 'fraid of darkness

So she said, "I guess I'll go."

Boy began to sigh, looked up at the sky,

And told the moon his little tale of woe

  • I bet Robert Crumb likes Leon Redbone.

  • Absolutely awesome! Leon is just that good. If you don't like it, it's your opinion and that's fine. Just don't pretend you know ALL MUSIC, therefore you announce him as anything less than great. Leon is massive and always has been

  • Oh yeah...Redbone and Sarso.....two frigggen awesome musicians.

  • @upyerrzzz I don`t know..I love Leon and have seen him do 25 versions of this song over the years and this is a pretty weak effort. You can see he even starts reaching for his guitar a few times to try to add some life to it and then he drops his hand as if he can't find the strength or interest to do it. Maybe he had a cold that day or something.
