How similar is playing the bass to playin lead?

I'd like the dvd to get me started giving the bass a whirl.

@jrd3rd It's quite different actually. If you know how to play lead, then you can use some of the same concepts, but there is a definite difference. Just because a guy plays guitar well won't make him a good bass player.
