  • lmao whats the point of the title? who cares if hes 15? its jiu jitsu, age don't count... lmao smh

  • It's jiu jitsu, age, weight, size, none of that means anything. I'm 190+ and I've been tapped by cats that are like 140. On the flip side, I've tapped cats closer to 250 (haha, not very often though)

  • @Gckirbydtx then you should come in there as a white belt and then challange them and take them down lol and make them look compeletly surprised lol

  • @intactGB you are right on that point. i have had problems with people disrespecting me at other gyms before, because when i wear a gi i still wear a blue belt that a good friend gave me many years ago. it has sentamental value. so i have had high ranks talk down to me, not knowing of my years in the sport and my rank as a brown belt. but i look at that as their problem. but i do always tell people that if you like the belting systym an are motivated by it, then thats the way to go

  • @therhythmatic

this is one of the reasons why I love it. The rush of whoopin someone significantly heavier than you is worth your time and energy. However, weight plays a part when both guys are the same skill level, but one is bigger than the other. This is why weight classes were implemented.

  • @Gckirbydtx

good point dude, but you have to admit that it sucks to have to make space for higher belt when rolling and people don't give you the respect you deserve when your rank is low. For instance, the other day I was rolling with this guy and we collided into another group. One of the guys that we crashed into had probably only been training like 6 months, but because he had more "stripes" physically, he behaved very rude to us. If I was a blue belt, he may not have done this.

  • @intactGB thats awesome! i'm glad to hear that bjj is becoming more prevalent. when i first started there was only one gym in our state. no there are probably a hundred or more. as far as your rank goes, i got my blue from the machado's in dallas tx (wich took over two years btw) and my purple and brown from UDL in curitiba brazil, and in all that time one thing i have learned is that belts are dumb. i wrestled in high school and college. have boxed my whole life and i did it all with no belts.

  • @Gckirbydtx

I meant bjj is so expensive that its hard to train young. Now as an adult I pay for my own training though

I am currently 11 months trained in BJJ. I did begin at a bjj club at my college and trained there for 4 months. Then I began training under gracie barra and am currently 11 months trained in total. Due to complications with moving gyms, my rank remains white belt, but hopefully that will change within the next month or so.

ty anyway. How long have u been training?

  • @intactGB hey bro, i understand that, but you can laways find people who are interested in MA and start a club. thats how i got started. a guy i know in college started a grappling club on campus. now i run a free club where i live. i train at another gym a few days a week and the rest of the time i train at my gym which is more of a club. alot of us train other places and bring what we learn together in the free exchange of ideas and technique.

  • @selenanub I'm referring to more of a general basis, not really a competitive level.

  • @therhythmatic Weight and size does mather the higher grades you compeat in.
