By 'pop elements' I meant elements infused with rock/punk/metal, especially regarding the structure of the song itself. That's what I like. But I do love Paloma Faith for some odd reason...

@sunsofguns I did the research for you which didn't take long. Also Mumford and Sons released an album in 2008 so at least pertaining to this year this is not exclusive to ES. With all that said yes it is fair because if pop is your taste then that is your taste. As for myself Bieber does zero for me. His lyrics are vacuous and he to my knowledge plays no instruments. There is other pop music I like but not him. To be fair the person that should have been nominated and WON is Janelle Monae.
