I think they are a satire about eager to please people. The voice reminds me of Stephen Hawking.

@TheNationalfilmbored .. yes but satire can have more than one political/economic/social reading - perhaps because they must - the exquisite act of incandescent, spontaneous, erotic autolysis that lies at the real centre of the Shmoos' transgressive power: they are literally consumed by love. They die of desire to feed their flock. This is self-sacrifice as transcendence - the absolute unspeakable of rational analysis, if also the perennial matrix of human community.
The Shmoo must be understood as nothing less than carnivore porn" just as pornography norms rape as the apotheosis of female desire, the Shmoo's self-immolation whitewashes the grotesque violence of the abattoir with a fantasy of meat-jouissance.

stupid people would think this was real

@RegretfulPonys They would indeed. Look what happened when Orson Welles did the War of the Worlds broadcast!

it sounds like the NOA Weather Radio broadcast... you know... the one where you turn to the Weather Channel to find out the forecast and then realize, 3 hours later, that you still have no idea what the weather is going to be.
