Before the splitting into the two halves, this tape compiled by the Alec Gould Orchestra was first aired on BBC2 in May 1991 and remained in this format until June 1992. This tape replaced Lady Beware and was never replaced after 1997 when all BBC1 tapes transferred over to BBC2. Some of the tracks on this tape were compiled by Errol Reid, also responsible for compiling some of the later ITV Schools interval pieces. This also had a playing on BBC1 in July 1992 when the one-day cricket match in Canterbury was affected by a power cut, and also during some of the scenes of Scottish Television's Take The High Road, some of the tracks from this tape were heard playing in the background.

It is amazing no one has wondered how anyone even got round to recording this in the first place! This is from a television test card. That means that cwilliams1976 has recorded this at a strange time of day years ago (no test cards anymore).

This is beautifully played orchestral music and if I remember correctly, there wasn't a bad track on this tape. A lovely recording you have of it too, thanks very much for posting : )

Great opening track and although I wasn't a fan of split compilations, both 'halves' of this one really hit the mark

Extracts of the first two tracks are played in episodes of "The Simpsons". Track 1 when Lisa steps into a lift, and track 2 while Marge is getting stressed in a supermarket with Maggie!
It's interesting how this music gets around.
