@steliosz28 wow I have not seen one of these in a longggggggg time

Cool eagle!! Im running a similar setup on my 258 powered '81 wagoneer. I swapped over to a H.O. 4.0 head and cam though with a offy 4bbl intake and holley 390 carb. Im pretty imressed with the power out of it.

amc was so much better then GM. the 1960's ramblers were getting 25 mpg. seated 6 adults and were capable of getting 200,000 miles out a motor.that was 50 yrs ago. most gms cant even accomplish that now

Exactly! AMC was Hudson and Nash combined in '54. AMC was yet another company that was bad-mouthed by the big 3. GM has the highest recalls of any company - More then Ford Chry., or AMC combined. (Anderson vs. GM) You keep yer 'recall hell' chevy there Bree, and keep going with that old propaganda.

but is your Chevy a car that you can get for under 1k with 4wd? no. And no it's not my head gasket, it's the valve cover and gasket, the factory one is plastic and they warp. And btw I didn't realize this either but AMC wasn't even distantly related to Chrysler until '87 when Chrysler bought it (and then killed it)

is it your head gasket. smoke was coming out of my head gasket on my dodge neon. but i want a amc eagle i love amc

where'd you get the metal valve cover, mine leaks like a sive.
-
Where did you get the new valve cover? I have the crappy plastic one I need to replace it Thanks!!

thanks a lot my friend!i just thought if i switch to the 570cfm carb...i'll solve my problem!i am from greece and here mechanics are not so experienced in 4bbl holleys!they are experienced in 2bbl delortos and webers!
i have a 4.3 v8 motor and i use the same carb but i think that is not big enough!i also lost low end!should i go to the 570cfm holley??

non of the internals(jets, vacuum secondaries, power valve, accelerator pump) on this carb are what it came with out of the box.
there are so many different applications that the 390 would work for.
I think you just need to tune it more to fit your application, so get help from someone who has some experience.

i did the same thing but with a cam to my cj7 and i need help with the throttle cable.Did you use a custom bracket?
fomfan123 3 years ago
i used a different throttle cable(longer), bought a random one from from o'reillys and made it fit.
yes, i did make myself a custom bracket.
you can buy throttle cable brackets from Holley but i didn't want to spend the money so i made one out of an old piece of the stock one that mounted using the carb studs/nuts. it looks like a flat bar sticking out from the side of the carb flange with a clamp on the end. DON'T forget a throttle return spring, mine attaches one of the head bolts.

Im thinking about getting the same intake and 390 carb for my Jeep CJ7 with the 4.2L. What kind of difference did it honestly make?

lost some low end, gained a lot of high end.
still have to tune the distributor and a little more with the carb to get the full effect. if you have the money and the experience, also put an aftermarket cam in there too. i didn't want to spend the time with the cam but i should have.
