Veselin Topalov defeated chess world champion Garry Kasparov in only their second meeting. Topalov was only 19 at the time. Enjoy this video reenactment by Mark, the second grader and budding director who produces animated videos on school snow days.

Possibly because there was no pawn structure/defense in front of the king that was close enough. The Pieces (3 pawns, knight and bishop that were out there could have been captured I suppose in the middle-game which would have left the dangerously exposed. Also, the F-file is very when the move was made. Also, when Bishop Captures G-4, that entire file is now open for the rook. But seeing as how the game turned out, castling may have been a better move but white may not have knew it at the time.
