This isn't the synth track, nor is it a track for one of the primary instruments, nor the vocals, but it is a nice blend of backing vocals, a quiet synth, the acoustic guitar, a backing electric guitar and the infamous Townshend claps!

Just wait for the intial synthesizer solo to finish at the beginning, then it gets into the real stuff!

Enjoy!

Download this song's master track as well as the masters from my other uploaded Who isolated songs! Follow the instructions here:

  • OK...is the "backing" electric guitar the supposedly played by Leslie West? OR is all the guitar done by Pete?

  • @texs2007

All the guitar on the original (non-bonus tracks) album was done by Pete. The Who played all of the instruments in all of the original album by themselves, EXCEPT Nicky Hopkins played piano on The Song is Over and Gettin' in Tune, and Dave Arbus played violin on Baba O'Riley.

Leslie West was ONLY involved in the re-recording of Love Ain't for Keepin' lead guitar for the Odds and Sods 1998 re-master of the aformentioned album and track.

  • i have the multitrack of won't get fooled again too , and when i mute the right channel of the acoustic/organ-synth and make the left channel mono - this is what i hear.

  • Really? I don't believe you.

Prove me wrong. What's the file type and how many tracks are in the master?

  • its one of those mogg things from rock band. i got it off of bittorrent.

It opens right up in audacity - though I'm sure adobe audition could open it too.

It's basically just an Multitrack OGG file.

there's a stereo drum track, a stereo guitar track, a mono bass track, a stereo roger vocals track, and a stereo track with the synth, if i remember right.

  • Revelatory, to hear the inner workings of this great track like this.

  • I loe hearing music like this. Awesome!

  • @thebigguyconnor Me too. When ever I listen to this on my ipod, the Right ear always has the main sound and during the synth solos, the left ear basically becomes the echoes

  • i have 9 tracks here EXCLUDING the 2 tracks with crappy claps and the noise of a crowd shouting the lyrics that happen in the game to make it seem like you're performing live
