How, just HOW did so many Germans stand back and watch/let that happen??
-
@JediMasterCheryl It is undoubtedly a humbling sight to behold. One also wonders if the sort of nationalistic zeal still exists for this sort of atrocity to happen again. I see glimpses of this sort of rhetoric in Santorum and Gingrich, Not to say they would have the opportunity to commit mass genocide, and certainty not by such cruel, vastly scaled, and prolonged means. The American conservative counterpart prefers quick execution, detention in rape camps. and segregation,

@zacthebold Do you want to see the women showering or something? Is that why you are here?
-
@scruffz In fact, until very recently, my videos were one of only 2 copies of the documentary on Youtube. Mainly because it was being flagged before Youtube lowered its standards on violence. I uploaded this long ago and reuploaded in May in higher definition after my first was taken down. The documentary was also taken down on Google Videos for being offensive. So the only people complaining about this are either anti-semitists or oversensitive people who like to bitch about everything

@zacthebold Then why don't you upload it yourself? Be happy this shit is even given to you for free.

@lynchie3000 gfy
as an historian who researched this event as an undergraduate, one wonders how these German people felt upon seeing this horror through the eyes of the British, American and Soviet soldiers who liberated the camps? We are all guilty in some fashion of 'crimes against humanity' but this.... this was unconscionable. How could they bear it? The world has never been the same since the violence of the late 19th and 20th centuries. It started in the west- with the decimation of the native Americans..

@JediMasterCheryl I would assume its because it was a combination of fear, propaganda and just the outrageous concept that the government could even be capable of this. You see people on here claiming that the German people were guilty. They are no more guilty than Canadians are guilty of the war in Iraq. They knew not to ask questions, or they would be joining the camps themselves. You can only imagine the disbelief of the majority of die Deutsches Volkes when they saw this.

@TheRimDoctor I do have to agree with you. I suspect I didn't properly phrase the point...but I am glad you reminded us all that a *people* in and of themselves as a state, are not responsible for the actions of the sadists in the group. I think perhaps I was considering more the smell and sights that some knew, but you are correct. I've never blamed the Germans - and I have some great German friends. To be honest, if I blame anyone, I would blame the bankers who made money on both sides.
