Was this camp near Big Bear or was it in the Angeles National Forest? I know an elderly woman who went to a Singing Pines camp in the Angeles in the 1950s and she wants me to find if it still exists.

@Albacorewing It's in the Angeles National Forest above La Canada. It now belongs to Christian Camp next door

Back in the summer of 1986, I was a camper and again in '87 (during the "Kit" era).

In 1989, I became a camp counselor and again in '90 ("Twinkles" era).

"Kit" and "Twinkles" were the camp directors.

What years were you there?

I was there in the Rick, Greenie and Cricket years. 1977-1981, 82 I was acd at Osito.

So what happened to Singing Pines? I was a camper for many years in the mid 80's. Is the camp gone? Singing Pines was my favorite.

I was just reminiscing about this with a girlfriend a few weeks ago! We pre-dated all of you, it seems. Late 60's, very early 70's I think. We remembered the terrifying bus ride up up there. The lake was full of moss, we floated in canoes and pulled it out. Testing in the pool for swim cap colors. Mosquitos. And Skippy or Skipper, one of the counselors. And being really home sick! Great memories.

Thank you so much for posting this! I loved camp singing pines! I went there from1984-I think to 1992. I stayed in Gypsy many times, Ranch and Pooh Hill. I don't remember horse back riding. I loved the pool and the canoes, arts and crafts and hiking. Thanks again!!!

One of my best girlfriend's name is Kat (Katherine).

I became very close to the A&C Director, "Zelda", she kept the Longhouse very busy... she always had something in boiling water like snake bones or candle sticks!
