We get the floor we took out of the late model pickup, size it down to 51 inches X 87 inches, making sure everything is good and square, and weld the sides to the floor.. We widened the bed 2 i/2 inches, and we widen the rear fenders 2 1/2 inches each.. We used the stock '46 Chevy tailgate, and blocked out the sides of the bed 1 1/4 inches on each side.. This still left us 48 1/2 inches between the blocks, so we will be able to put 4 X 8 plywood flat in the bed with no problem..We also make the rear splash apron under the tailgate..We have this all fitted where it goes, and will start making the running boards and splash aprons.
