look....assuming the house is paid for...if they sold the house they would get a good clip of cash...then I assume they would each get about 1800 a month social security. In many parts of the country you can buy a one or two bedroom condo for about 1/10th of what they got for the house. They will be fine....they just won't be filthy rich like they used to be.....they will have to settle for middle class

@hujjesb lets face it madoff must have worked extremely hard making up thousands of monthjly statements of hundreds of fictitious trades.....that takes some doing that he should be paid for.....he must have had many close accomplices working at the office fixing up statements in advace so as to be ready by end of month.....he was secretly paying commisions to hunters that kept the suckers coming in all the time..20 yrs is a v long time for a ponzi scheme to keep going....wife and kids helped

@hujjesb the govt does the same thing but no one has ever asked them to pay back the money they owe....at least not all of them....so it just borrows more to pay the interest on what it owes and this has been going on for 250 years or at least since banking was invented.....they shoild have just let him carry on and there will be no losses for anyone....at least he was honest and he did pay 10 percent...so most did not l;ose that much....madoff is the victim here
