So they weren't genuinely completely in the guy's thrall.
I was kinda sceptical when people kept saying he was charismatic and stuff when I asked them tangible questions on whether he actually had any substance and people weren't just voting for him out of racism.
It's very useful in quelling dissent as people who love him are such dull sheep, they project their racism on to you.
He's one of the most frightfully dull men ever to hold a public position.
