The driver was at fault.
But decent engineering and planning can help reduce the case of accident for those who "screw up".

@Boss302fan How about "fault of idiot driver, but with lessons for future civil engineers"? It generally tends to be in everyone's interest to make idiocy (which is always going to happen) less likely to result in disaster (which is harmful to trains as well as stupid truck drivers).

this video should be re-named to train vs trailer. as it never touches the truck at all. next to that, i load these and there is nothing to the trailer lol, and the frame just swings out of the way. and whoever put the lights there is an absolute moron.

That's the problem with citizens of the US today. Individuals are no longer responsible for their actions. It's easy to "blame it on politics" or "let the government take care of me".

This driver was trained, knew the law, and chose to disobey it.

The news anchor says about the trailer desinigrating well I am not trying to sound like a smart alike but lady what do you expect will happen when a probably 70 mile per hour Amtrak Train comes flying at something like a semi trailer? Oh I suppose she thought the trailer would just very gently get pushed off the track!! In my opinion like all other train vs. Vehicle accidents this video teaches motorists to never go around crossings. I just hope people get the message.
