Ugly?, no way, it's really cool and works. Maybe in a real prototype you have to manage the engine brake and the brakes themselves, maybe too stressed to slow down the whole driveline but adding a clutch... somewere. :D
Anyway it's cool, i hope you'll do a v2.0 of this Lego marvel.

The second video of this series is an explination video. The title is cumbersome, but here it is: "Automatic Lego Transmission using a Fly-Wheel (Ugly Prototype 2)." It gives a brief description of the opperation.
There is also an instructional video set of 8 clips on how to build one of these.
