@LEGO9vtrainfan i also have the 9V version i have a passenger train from Lego world city with one pack extra straight pieces and i have two cargo wagons from some other lego set :P

@LEGO9vtrainfan Power Functions is nice but you do have 1 problem, it uses batteries which does lose power.

@666harrywarden Both are now very capable systems. The LEGO 9V train system is not made anymore and has been replaced with the Power Functions (wireless controller) system. The main difference is that the power comes from the rails in 9V, while a battery pack is carried onboard somewhere in your model with the PF system and hence the track is cheaper.
I started my collection when 9V was still manufactured; if you're starting today, by all means go with LEGO Power Functions. You'll enjoy it!
