The point of transition between late Winter and early Spring is barely perceptible and one must rely on small clue to inform you that that point has indeed been crossed. Scattered around in the dull sweep of a tired landscape a mere suggestion of Winter remains in the snow drops, but these have already begun to relinquish their place in the margins to a burst of bright yellow from welcome primroses. Elsewhere, catkins dangle from the hazel and as the fresh spears of the daffodils thrust their way through the thin, green veneer one starts to feel that the earth underfoot is beginning to stir.

It is mid-March and up on the hill Tona has already begun to put his sheep to pasture. Meanwhile, the vines are cut back and the fruit trees pruned. What traces of snow that still lingers is no longer a deterrent and one feels quite sure that Spring means to start working in earnest.

  • Re-visiting today mid january 2011

  • @ronpolla Thanks for coming back. Are you, perhaps, going to re-experience the whole year again? Not a bad idea, I might join you. Good to see you once more.

  • Watching and listening to this presentation, I feel renewed; I feel as I do when I visit the country. I ache to stay longer, to linger, to walk the hills, to breath the chilly air of early spring. This is not a video, it is a moving painting and your narration is poetry.

  • @XaveJamesGrey Wonderful comment, James, thank you. I am so pleased you are responding so positively to these films.

  • @violetparme Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment, it really means a lot to me. These first few films are intended to set the scene and introduce characters individually before going into a bit more detail with the complexity of relationships. When Spring really starts there will be more activity to film, for now though, all is just waking up and there is a wonderful feeling of anticipation. I am so pleased you are following this story, I hope it will remain interesting for you.

  • Pictures, voice , words and music make the whole thing sounds like a cristal chime. Very relaxing and reassuring. Thank you.

  • Sorry, removed my first (poetry insert) comment because there's probably a better translation of that wonderful Rilke quote out there yet. Easiest way to say it, Spring has come like a child who knows poems by heart....

  • @Junemori You are right. The whole village has real characters, and I will be introducing them to you in the forthcoming films. Thank you so much for watching

  • I love this one, with real & touching characters
