Cops In Canada Violate My Rights (Edmonton)

After a night of going to a few bars on whyte ave we decided to go get a donair and call it a night when we seen the cops i decided to start filming on the public street.
When we got close and we asked one question the cops started to surround us and he asked for my id, i did not make an offence so i decided it wasnt right for me to show it, then he swiped my phone from my hand and they detained both of us wrote me up 4 bogus tickets. They then proceeded to release us after knowing we did nothing wrong. As you can see in the video I ask where the cops are from and the one says Germany, this scares me to know our police force hires foreigners to handle canadian citizens.

You're invading a possible police investigation/crime scene. They have the right to tell you to literally fuck off. Especially when you're an idiot. You wouldn't expect to have rights to walk in on a shooting scene that happened on apublic street just because its a public place right? Same type of situation here, those cops had the right in that situation to detain for 24 hours, you are lucky they were nice.

@Feralus69 it amazes me to know that half the people who comment on this video dont know the law. this is not an investigation, two cars are getting tickets for being park in an illegal spot. This is not the same as a shooting scene or crime scene because it wouldve been taped off area, dont be so nieve cops cant do whatever they want. I didnt break the law, i didnt hurt anyone, those cops came and approached me and they didnt like the fact that i knew the law when they just wanted to be control

Edmonton police have such a bad reputation and it’s no wonder after watching this video. They have no idea how to behave towards the public getting defensive right away asking you why you are videoing.

These cops should be ashamed at the way they escaladed this encounter with them and sadly they get away with it because we the public have allowed it.

I also fear the direction that having our police staffed by foriegn nationals might lead us.
