  • no that marshal is all solid state. There was another model of Valvestate amps that did have a tube pre-amp but this one was all modeled solid state.

  • At least all older valvestates do have tube pre-amp. That's what the valvestate-term means. Half valve

  • Dude it's a VS230. Only valvestate amps with 65w+ had tube pre-amps. I have had the thing for 10 years I think I know whats in it.

  • What Hamer guitar do you have? I like Hamers, they are very well made guitars

  • It's a mid 90's studio mahogany flat-top with P-90's :) I love them too.

  • One setting around 5:30 or so reminds me of that old Celtic Frost tone.Nice sound on the valvestate. An old band mate of mine had that w/ the tube preamp and a jcm900 run together as his rig.The 900 always sounded like broken glass (as 900's do for some reason like a failed experiment) compared to the VS which surprised me having no tubes in the power section. Nice demo.

  • i got this amp its really good i love my marshall valvestate i love marshall

  • Yeah, I bet it would!

  • ohhh sorry misunderstood... the VS imo is one of the best sounding amps in thier price range, friend of mine has a 50 watt and it sounds worlds better than my marshall mg... i love fender amps for clean and slightly distorted tones.. bet a twin reverb would sound amazing with this pedal

  • I'm aware of the "valve/tube" translation, mate! Haha But, I bought it used at a small shop, it said "Valvestate", but, I figured it was one of those "solid-state with valve technology" acts like a lot of companies are doing now! Regardless, it's still not working, so it doesn't quite matter what it's called! New tube, by the way...my Fender's way more reliable.

  • valve is what the english call a tube, marshalls an english company, hence valve-state... not bein sarcastic, just saying

  • it has one preamp tube that u must change every 2 years for good sound

  • Holy crap! It Does have a tube! I have an old VS65R that crackles after about 5 minutes at low volume. I figured it's all solid-state, gotta take it to the shop. Never got around to it. Then, after malmsteen80's comment, I downloaded the manual, and, man was I surprised! Can't access the tube easily, and no standby switch. Learn something new every day...

  • I have a Valvestate, I wasn't aware it had tubes in it!!

  • you dont and you buy an amp that isnt junk
